Car didnt move in reverse or drive without major force on the gas pedal

Today, I drove my car to the bank. When I came out and started the car and put it in reverse it wouldn't move. I pressed the gas a little more, still nothing. I pushed the gas more than it needed but finally it moved back abruptly. It did it agian as I was still trying to back out. I put it in drive, same thing. It wouldn't move but with a lot of force on the gas it lurched back. I managed to pull to the edge of the parking lot and turned the car off, then back on. I was able to make it home. The next time i pulled out, same thing.
