What is your question?
Would the "boots" be a part of the standard ball joint replacement job? One place tells me the joints are OK and I need the boots replaced. Another says I need to do both, at a higher cost ($600). I see where the boots are ripped and need to be replaced, but I'm not sure about the joints. Thanks for the guidance.

I can't tell you if the joints are any good anymore but it needs the boots and lubrication. Without lube and with dirt and with water getting into the joints, they will fail at some point. The safer thing is to replace the joint when the boots have been torn but only the guy working on the car knows whether the joints are OK right now, not me.
