1999 Ford Ranger V6

What is your question?

V6 Ford engine broken rod I have a 1999 Ford Ranger V6 with a broken rod. Assistance on what parts to order and from whom. I am pretty sure I need a piston, piston rings, rod and rod bearings, and a complete seal kit for heads, etc. How would you approach this? TIA

Hi - I am Dave, contributing to RepairPal and providing expert advice since 2010. You have three possible V6 engines in your Ranger. A 3.0L OHV V6, a 4.0 OHV V6 and a 4.0 SOHC V6. Can you share which your vehicle is equipped with? No way can anyone guess at what your engine needs without tear down and inspection. A broken rod would also likely mean cylinder wall scoring, which would mean engine block is needed. In this case, get a used engine.
