1998 Ford Ranger Transmission
Transmission
What is your question?
We have a 1998 Ford Ranger 4x4 4.0 V6 auto transmission. Suddenly began slipping gears progressivly worse. Any common problem to check other than complete overhaul?
RepairPal Certified shops can diagnose and repair your 1998 Ford Ranger. They provide transparent pricing with a minimum 12-month or 12,000-mile warranty on repairs and services.
Not really, unfortunately. Make sure that your fluid is topped off properly, but if that does not do it, then have a good transmission shop inspect it. Best of Luck!
We had the same problem with our 1998 Ford Ranger XLT 4.0L, had the code come up with P0720 (Output Speed Sensor) Replaced the OSS with no luck! Replaced the ALTERNATOR and the BATTERY and problem solved!!! (so far). Will let you know if the problem returns.
