My first guess is that your wiper switch is wearing out and failing. There's also a Generic Electronic Module (GEM) that actually controls doorlocks, wipers, interior and exterior lights, etc. It could be a problem with that GEM and that could be more expensive than a wiper switch, plus it needs programming. I think it's more likely the switch. Get it checked out by a Ford or Mazda (same truck - different label) specialist.
