I have a 94 Ranger, 4 cyl. Had similar intermittent no start problem. Mine turned out to be something very commom on Rangers. The fuel pump, which is in the gas tank. I had my son turn the ignition key while I took a rubber mallet to the gas tank. A couple sharp knocks (be careful gas tank is 'special plastic', and it started. I had replaced the inertia/neutral switch, the fuel pump relay, only to find out it was the fuel pump. I had never done one in the fuel tank before so it was a challenge doing it one your back, on the ground, in the garage, but after getting estimates of $600 to $750 I decided to give it a whirl. With 15 yrs of rust, it was a bear, but I did it. If you pre-spray all bolts with WD40 and let it sit overnight it really helps. Hope this helps!
