Why does my ranger hesitate to accelerate and turn off during idle?

I would suspect the fuel system pressure is too low, but don't just replace parts, test the fuel system pressure at the engine, and see if it is high enough to start and run the truck under load. Let me know if you have any other questions. The fuel system pressure gauge can be rented from most auto parts stores, or purchased reasonably cheaply. Also, never underestimate the power of vacuum leaks. Listen for hissing, pinch off the line for vacuum components one at a time and see if your engine calms down and runs better. Does the engine die if you hold the brakes at idle in gear?
