Hi this is Dusty, I'm one of the auto experts on RepairPal's Car Genius team! Sounds like quite the bind! That'll depend on the type of transmission that's in your Mustang. Manuals will have a specific fill plug location on the side of the transmission case and may require special tools to complete the filling. Automatic transmission will have a few options, some may have a dipstick tube that is used to refill the transmission, these are becoming less common. Others use an overflow system that also requires special tools to fill the unit, as well as a diagnostic scan tool capable of accessing the transmission fluid temperature, and a specific set of steps to be performed while monitoring the data, that may include adding more fluid during the process. This because the fluid expands, and contracts as things heat up, or cool down, which can affect the fluid level. You'll also want to keep the vehicle stable, and level during this process to ensure an accurate measurement.
