ticking sound coming from the top of the engine on the right side, during idle, and gets louder at accelleration!

First things I think of are an exhaust leak where the manifold connects to the cylinder head, and a valve lifter or camshaft problem making noise under the valve cover. The exhaust leak is easy to find if you listen carefully under the hood, maybe using a piece of tubing in your ear to pinpoint the source. If the noise is from under the valve cover, it's most likely a cam or lifter problem. Cam vaser limiters they constantly are adjusting your timing to keep the cams adjusted so the valves don't punch a hole in the piston....Ford wasn't thinking much when they made these triton engines but they make alota noise with age almost like a lifter ticking
