Yes, the radio has an internal issue unfortunately. If it is a factory radio, the dealership can remove it and send it to a repair facility. Conversely, there are other methods of repair - you can send it out somewhere yourself if you remove it. There are multiple web sites that give options - do a web search on "Ford Radio Repair" and start scrollin' around... Good luck.
SPRAY SOME ELECTRIC CLEANER SPRAY IN AND AROUND THE VOLUME KNOB IF THAT DOESNT CORRECT IT CALL US ARCTIC FREEZE.
Thanks DaveJHM..car is a 2004, don't think the dealer will replace it. May just get another.
They won't replace it for free, but they do have access to the repair facility that can fix them or exchange them. It's a resource...like the Internet is. Depending on your sound system (Mach 460, Mach 1000, standard), you may want to keep the original system, as the Mach systems are far and above in sound and quality compared to any aftermarket you can get at the same price of a repair.
FVery easy fix 1st remove gear shift trim in plug cig lighter then pull off all 3 climate control knobs then pull off Radio trim unplug defrost, trac control and fog lamp switches. Remove the 2 7mm head bolts and pull out Radio . Remove all the plugs and antenna . With radio out remove the 4 small torx flat head bolts holding the face plate on. You will ave to push in 4 steel tabs to the remove control plate assembly.with control plate removed use plastic safe contact cleaner and using tube thoroughly soak the volume potentiometer and manipulate the volume control and repeat . Now reassemble control plate to Radio and install it power it up and try it . IT WILL MAKE YOUR DAY ENJOY
