What is your question?
Car runs perfectly when accelerating slowly. On the occasion I need to floor it to enter a freeway or just for fun, the car accelerates quickly, but when I start to slow down, the RPMs get stuck around 2k and the car won't shift back down into first and then stalls. Car starts right back up. Automatic Trans. 52k miles. Bought used. Non stock intake. Took it to a transmission guy and he said it wasn't the transmission, but the engine and didn't know what was causing it.
How long has your 2003 Ford Mustang had this problem?
Since buying

"Non stock intake" - any time you have non-factory components, especially when you personally can't validate how it ran before then intake was installed -- anything goes. It's best to restore the vehicle to factory condition and recheck operation. If the problem still occurs, you've eliminated the variable and can continue testing otherwise. Trying to get into the transmission as a possible cause of concern without addressing modifications allows for too many variables.
