Hi, this is Bo, an auto expert on RepairPal's Car Genius team! Your Mustang’s theft light staying on overnight is like a bad roommate—it won’t let anything rest. The issue likely involves the **PATS system (Passive Anti-Theft System)**. If the light is solid instead of blinking, it might indicate a fault in the system’s sleep mode, possibly due to the new ignition switch or a wiring glitch. Start with the basics: Check for parasitic draw at the battery—if the theft light isn’t going to sleep, it could be draining your power. Also, inspect the ignition switch wiring and key transponder. If something’s loose or misaligned, the system might think the car’s still active. Lastly, you may need a reprogramming or reset of the PATS module, which might require dealer-level tools. While it’s not a common failure, older PATS modules can occasionally develop quirks like this.
