[Odometer]Car had no radio when bought, factory plug cut, amp bypassed. Put after market radio in and odometer started flickering when the radio is in use. Originally thought it was a wiring problem when piecing factory harness back because i used a wire that *seemed* like it was a ground. Couldnt find an actual ground or constant power wire, no diagrams match the wiring. Ran my own ground to the sub frame that holds up the dash right under and slightly below the radio, ran to pre-existing bolt] [Speakers/Radio] when the radio volume is up there is a really bad distortion/ crackle in all of the speakers. The volume doesnt have to be up particularly loud, its specifically related to bass volume. Its not distortion from overpowering it, or the radio itself being too loud because it can happen at lower volumes. After market speakers. I will note when the radio was first put in, this was not a problem, it started occuring the very next day after the install was completely finished.
What makes this problem better or worse?
Bass volume being raised either through eq, bass boost, or volume knob
How long has your 2001 Ford Mustang had this problem?
a few days

Hello, due to the existing wiring damage, it's really difficult to know what to expect to see in your vehicle and what wires go where and do what. I'd recommend consulting with a third party expert -- like Crutchfield (www.crutchfield.com) or another local expert near you that can help you with car audio concerns. There is obviously a wiring issue here.
