What is your question?
Also the car will not shift into overdrive and it's automatic
What makes this problem better or worse?
Nothing currently it's just doing the same thing I'll be going to get about 50 mph and it won't shift into overdrive but if I take the overdrive button and disengage it it will speed up but with the overdrive on it will not speed up
How long has your 2001 Ford Mustang had this problem?
I bought the car about 6 months ago and I've been working on it ever since and finding if this is the common problem that I can't seem to get past

Hello, with such a high idle speed, I would suspect a mass air flow leak, such as from a vacuum or PCV line, or intake gaskets leaking. Just a guess, but consistent with your concern. As far as the shifting - sounds like an internal transmission concern with that gear or torque converter function. Testing is needed to confirm the root cause of the concern and then troubleshoot further, but I'd say there's a fairly strong likelihood that it's an internal mechanical issue that will require transmission overhaul or replacement.
