What is your question?
I have a 2001 3.8l v6 mustang that has a possible vacuum leak. When I have to floor it It bogs the rpm down by 500 to 1000rpm and the oil pressure drops to 0 then goes back to normal. I didn't find any leaks or anything. I suspect it might be a vacuum issue or that 2nd gear is going out. Any advice? What should I look for? It has the 4 speed automatic transmission

Hello, when you say the oil pressure drops to zero - is this the gauge you are watching? Or do you have an actual oil pressure gauge hooked up to the engine block to measure actual pressure? The "bogging down" and oil pressure reading (whatever method that is by) likely has nothing to do with a vacuum leak. If you have an intake or exhaust restriction, it will reduce performance. Crankcase ventilation should be checked also. Yes, always check things you know to be in question - such as the oil pressure reading - first. If you manually choose second gear or first gear - does it happen? Or is it in "drive" gear? Share some more information!
Hi, this is Bo, an auto expert on RepairPal's Car Genius team! That pony needs to run! Start by checking the intake manifold gasket, vacuum hoses, and PCV valve for leaks or cracks. Also, inspect the transmission fluid level and condition, and consider having the transmission inspected by a professional if you suspect a gear issue. Additionally, check for any other potential engine or fuel system problems that could affect performance under acceleration. If you're unable to diagnose the issue, consult a mechanic for further assistance. If you have any other questions feel free to call us at 877-913-1554!
