its very hard to shift into gear but it doesnt slip

A bad clutch pressure plate could cause this (a sports/racing clutch pressure plate) or a spring to have come out of the clutch disc in which case the car would not go into gear sometimes if the spring lodged between the plate and disc. I just remember I think that car has a clutch cable between the clutch pedal and operating fork that year if so that is the most likely cause and cheapest option.
I had same problem. Lived with it for a couple of years and eventually had to replace the throwout bearing.
