Repair shop says car needs a new PCM. Basically car stalls almost immediately after being started.

I show an estimate of 500 to 600 dollars - I try to put as much info into my hands as possible - what else does the car need? My 99 has 175,000 on the six, runs great with the orig engine and auto trans - I am putting about $1600 into it for its 100,000 mile tune up, exhaust manifold, filters, etc - it runs great, uses very little oil - and I have kept it well maintained. Also, ask the repair shop for any discounts to bring the price down, I get an AAA discount, and look for Ford coupons before I go to the dealership. And of course I research labor prices, and other prices here at repair pal. Most of all, stick with very good shops - a bad one can really screw your car up big time. And of course, try to figure out what your old car will probably need in the near future -
