hard starting

The fuel pump is in the tank, and if the hose/pipe between the pump and the fitting on the tank has a leak, it can draw air into the fuel system, causing the problem you are experiencing. I would pull the fuel pump and check the pump and the hoses/pipes in the tank, make sure they are OK.
