My door keeps not shutting and it takes me a good minute to get it to shut.

These large doors are heavy, and the door hinges can become worn. It's likely that the hinges have sagged, making it necessary to "lift" the door to get it to latch properly. Sounds like possibly that you need to replace your hinges.
