transmission will not go into over drive

in the AXOD it is very common for the retaining clip for the "OD" drum to come off, unfortunately that means pulling the transmission and removing the pump to get at it. i have also seen on a few occaisions the band at the same location can break. i would recommend taking to a trans specialist for a diag and quote

This car has an AOD... AXOD is front wheel drive. Check your TV cable. The throttle valve cable goes to the throttle body and back to the transmission. Often times there is a little grommet that comes apart and then the cable hangs. This will cause extended shifts, if it shifts at all. It will also burn up the transmission if not repaired fast.
