I put my car in reverse got ready to put it in drive and it wouldn't go into any other gear. I was moving the gear shift but none of the gears were catching.

A lack of engagement in forward gears can be related to a few different sources. First, ensure your fluid is full and clean. Low fluid can cause engagement issues.
