What is your question?
I have a 2014 For Fusion Titanium that had the drivers side mirror broken off by a sideswipe. I have a replacement mirror but it needs painted and I can not get the manual folding spring joint apart. How in the world am I suppose to break it down further to paint behind where the mirror folds and unfolds?

Hello, you don't disassemble it; you have a paint shop professionally mask it and paint it prior to installation.
Did you ever figure this out? Someone removed just this upper folding part of the assembly from my car and just cut the wires, so I still have the post piece bolted to my car. I watched some videos on replacement, but they all require removing the door panel. I was hoping that maybe I could just replace this upper portion, even if it means that I wouldn't have any of the wires connected. At least I would have a side view mirror again.
Masking is insufficient for a moving part with an 1/8 inch gap that has a large section that can not be exposed to paint but is still slightly visible. I grew up in paint shops. This is the first part I have not been able to disassemble.
