My gear is stuck in park

Hello, I'm not understanding how the vehicle rolls with the shift lever in park gear unless a major internal mechanical failure of of the transmission has occurred with damage to the park pawl. The vehicle stuck in park gear usually indicates a concern with the brake light switch or wiring connector. This prevents the shift lever from seeing the vehicle brake pedal depressed which is required too shift out of park gear.
