Hi - Dave here, contributing to RepairPal and providing expert advice since 2010. There is a switch at the transmission that signals to turn on the back up lights when the shift lever is put into reverse gear. This switch signals to turn them on, power is applied through the wiring to illumiante the lights. You'll want to trace back the wiring to power and continuity to the switch at the transmission. A shop manual and wiring diagram can be helpful to determine which wires go where. Have you verified that in Reverse gear there is power at the sockets? https://repairpal.com/auto-repair-near-me Click the link to find some shops near you who can help out!
