Hello, I cannot think of any correlation of body or even component issues in the left rear of the vehicle that could possibly affect transmission engagement. Nothing to guess at here; if your transmission fluid is full and clean, you'll need to perform transmission testing using a Ford IDS diagnostic tool (or equivalent) and the resource of a workshop manual as well.
