Why does my 2009 ford fusion smoke under the hood when heater is on?

My car smokes excessively under the hood when car reaches temperature and heat is on! When heat is turned off it stops smoking and doesn't smoke at all when using air conditioning .
What makes this problem better or worse?
if i dont turn on my heat the car doesnt smoke!
