Dash lights and radio

2008 Ford Fusion heard a frying noise in dash all dash lights went out and car will not pick up enough speed for trans to shift. If I apply the brakes all dash lights come on again. I think its a ground issue with something. Help!

What makes this problem better or worse?

Hit a pot hole it happend. Large cable to battery has some wires detached

How long has your 2008 Ford Fusion had this problem?

This is the second time in 2 months. It just stopped after pulling all fuses & reinserting.
