seems a slight rumbling has increased over past 2 weeks but today, after a 45 minute drive, car made a whining noise upon slowing down and accelerating from a stop 2016 Ford Focus

Hello, noises such as this really need to be evaluated locally at a shop near you. A technician who is skilled and trained will be able to listen to the vehicle and your concern and assess what should be done, if anything. Worn tires, worn wheel bearings, transmission issues could all cause noises, but it could be none of that. www.repairpal.com/repair-shops
