My car isn’t recognizing my key fob

What is your question?

When I turned my car off after I got to work, all the lights and screens that were lit went dark. I didn’t think much about that at first but when my key wouldn’t lock my car I got worried so I went back in to start my car and nothing happened. I opened the hood to see if there was something wrong with the battery, and after went back into my car. The screens lit up again but it wasn’t recognizing my key fob.

What makes this problem better or worse?
