What is your question?
I was changing my engine intake manifold and broke a plastic pipe that connects to the bottom backside of the intake. I need to know what that is so I can find the right part. Have a major vacuum leak when driving. My car revs up to around 2500rpm once I slow down to first gear and then drops down to about 1000rpm once it's at a complete stop.
What makes this problem better or worse?
Gets worse when the engine gets hot
How long has your 2013 Ford Focus had this problem?
Couple days. Technician jerryrigged it with rubber hoses and clamps.

Hi, this is Bo, an auto expert on RepairPal's Car Genius team! That sounds exactly like something I would do! It sounds like the plastic pipe you broke on your 2013 Ford Focus SE’s intake manifold is likely the PCV (Positive Crankcase Ventilation) valve hose or vacuum line. These hoses are crucial for maintaining proper engine vacuum and venting crankcase gases back into the intake for combustion. When damaged, they cause major vacuum leaks, leading to high idle and erratic engine behavior like you’re experiencing. Once replaced, the vacuum leak should be resolved, and your Focus should run smoothly again. If you need more help, feel free to ask! If you have any other questions, please call us at 877-913-1554!
