What is your question?
My 2012 focus overheats when idling. Doesn’t happen all the time and when it does, I can drive and the temperature will go back down or if I shut the car off, I can start it back up in 30 seconds and the temperature is back to normal. There has been a few times that the temperature gauge went up while I was driving but after turning on the heater it went back down. So I don’t think it is the thermostat, I’m thinking it has something to do with the radiator fan because I rarely hear it come on. Plus sometimes whenever you open a door on the car, the radiator fan will kick on just from opening a door so maybe more so an electrical issue cuz the fan does work. Don’t know where to begin to figure out the problem, especially if it is an electrical issue, greatly appreciate any help I can get.

If take a look at the purge valve, test coolant and replace thermostat. Also check coolant temp sensor
Overheating when the car is sitting still at idle is often indeed caused by lack of air flow through the radiator. The most often cause of this is an engine cooling fan that is not turning on to force air through the radiator. If the fan is not turning on, then troubleshooting must be performed to find out why not. Use this link to find some shops near you that can help with your concern: www.repairpal.com/repair-shops
