Electrical good - new battery - car had a funny sound like a knocking - drove it 54 miles - got in line at fast food restaurant and car suddenly died - tried to restart - made noise to try and turn over - just made a screeching, grinding sound. Had to have 2 guys push me out of line. Car AAA to have car towed back to my house. tow truck driver said it sound like the flywheel - if so what is a ballpark figure for repair?

If the car just made a knocking noise and then died, you better make sure that the engine is ok. Flywheels don't typically just 'go out'. Do a compression test on the engine first and foremost
A knocking sound and the vehicle does not crank over are signals of a serious fail. To understand a little what is a Compression Test check this article in the RepairPal Encyclopedia; http://repairpal.com/compression-test It is hard to determine what repair is needed. When was the last Scheduled Maintenance Service done?
oil change at 178k - everything else checked out ok - was told to change transmission fluidar has 181k. mechanic initial check - starter is gone - he wants to replace that first and then see what's going on. He showed me oil leak - looks like a seal may be gone?
Well almost $2000 later and here's the scoop - rare time when everything went out at once - starter, compressor, alternator, water pump - unbelievable - S&J Mobile did a very good job - he's good but not CHEAP - explained everything- it was almost too much to bear - but didn't want new car payments - compressor went and froze other parts - serpentine belt was replaced - pulleys ok. I thought there was no end in sight
