I've been having some issues with what I think is the engine. The car has trouble starting sometimes, when driving it'll randomly shut off, there's white smoke coming from the engine sometimes, it smells like burning when driving and it's having trouble shifting
What makes this problem better or worse?
For some reason, when I use the ac it helps a little

When you say there's white smoke coming from the engine, do you mean from under the hood or do you mean from the tailpipe? Is this an automatic transmission equipped vehicle? Does the vehicle lack power on acceleration? There are a lot of questions here to clarify and drill down and dig in closer to what your concern is. But nothing in the world could replace a hands-on evaluation by a skilled technician near you.
