I have a 2000 Ford focus and Somebody stole the only key out of ignition when my boyfriend forgot it in my car, and I just got 2 key blanks for it today. But what I need to know is can u program an uncut key?! Or do u have to cut it first ? And can I take my trunk lock cylinder in to someone and have them use the lock to cut the key? My door locks and trunk key is and ignition key is the exact same. Thank u

Hello, Dave here, contributing to RepairPal and providing expert advice since 2010. You will need to tow the vehicle to a local dealership or a repair facility or locksmith that has diagnostic tool capability to program your keys to the anti-theft system of the vehicle. The keys must be cut to turn the locks also. The door and trunk can be rekeyed to work with your new keys, or a key code can be obtained from Ford so the keys can be cut to work with the locks as designed. You will be needing some help, so dealership or tool equipped shop or locksmith near you is needed. https://repairpal.com/auto-repair-near-me Click the link or call us at 877-913-1554.
