What is your question?
i just had my water pump and timing chain replaced at a mechanics garage on ford flex engine which needs to be taken out in order to replace pump. i took it home and mechanic said it runs fine so we paid him but just shy of a week having the vehicle back the head gasket blew. I had to pull over right away on highway . I had it towed back to the mechanic and he refused to give us at least part of the money i spent .. Could he have seen this while he fixed the water pipe? Is there no recourse from him. There should be some liability on his end other than to offer to fix head gasket for a lot more money along with taking the engine out again.. We already paid for that as it is but i would of expected mechanic to say it wont cost you as much you didnt drive it long after i repaired the water pump so this is what ill do for you. I would think if he cared about his reputation as a mechanic he would of offered better.

I'd be really surprised that this engine would need a head gasket replacement. This engine has an aluminum block and aluminum cylinder heads. As such, there are no dissimilar metals here, and expansion and contraction of materials should happen in unison, preventing a cylinder head gasket breach. Certainly, anything is possible. I'd be looking at a cooling system where maybe the air pockets were not sufficiently purged? It's highly unusual to replace a timing chain. And are you certain the water pump was leaking? Also an uncommon concern. I'd personally get a second opinion before doing anything. I just highly doubt a head gasket failure here. Finally - no, you can't see a head gasket failure happening unless you remove the cylinder heads. www.repairpal.com/repair-shops
