Mechanic sayshe needs a transmission interlock switch. 2005 Ford 500 SE, FWD, vin 1FAFP23165G142945, but cannot find switch/solenoid. Where can I get one?
What makes this problem better or worse?
very sporadic, but very difficult now
How long has your 2005 Ford Five Hundred had this problem?
on and off for a while. it was lubed 6mo ago and worked ok for a time

That is an integral part of the shifter ASSEMBLY - not replaceable as an independent part. Copy / paste this link - watch video - show mechanic video. Suggest cleaning interlock mechanism by LIBERALLY spraying WD-40 onto and into the obvious interlock moving parts. You 'may need' to find a more experienced (old school) technician to do this for you. Good luck!

Let's try again: https://youtu.be/sIFc-jrinUI This video is just to show the related components that need attention / cleaning - coffee - soda and other rather sticky or viscous liquids that get inadvertently spilled into shifter cavity over time will cause interlock solenoid problems - WD-40 is a great cleaner and a light lubricant..
