The fuel gauge gets its information via wiring from the fuel pump sending units. If there is a wiring concern or a concern with one or both fuel sending unit (more than one fuel tank if equipped), then the gauge will read erratically. Does your truck have a fuel tank switch - so you can go between multiple tanks? If so, switch to the other tank and see if the gauge reads differently. Yes, I have 2 fuel tanks and the 2nd tank reads. Just not the first. Is it possibly my relay?
