What is your question?
My Ford F-150 has a 2.7L Ecoboost and 10 speed transmission. It has had occasional hard shifts for last 10,000 to 15,000 miles. My Ford dealer has been recommending a transmission flush since the truck hit 60,000 miles, but I have been putting it off. Will getting it flushed at my next oil change cause more issues with my transmission or will it fix them?
How long has your 2018 Ford F-150 had this problem?
More than a year

Hi - Dave here, contributing to RepairPal and providing expert advice since 2010. I wonder about "flushing" a transmission - most manufacturers recommend draining and filling fluid. Even if you drain and fill more than one time, it's better than "flushing" - as modern transmissions have temperature based operation and this can inhibit flow. Also - what are you flushing and where? It's kind of unknown. It sounds good, but is it really a benefit? Ford does list a "fluid exchange" as an acceptable method of fluid replacement for this transmission. As a result - yes, I would recommend doing it for regular maintenance purposes. Do you ever tow with your truck? Ford's "normal duty" service puts transmission fluid replacment at 150,000 miles. I am concerned that "occasional hard shifts" may not be something that can be resolved. These could be due to software strategies more than internal mechanical concerns. Maintenance never hurts. But the question is - is it prudent to do the work if it does not help? https://repairpal.com/auto-repair-near-me Click the link to find some shops near you who can help out!
