Hi, this is Bo, an auto expert on RepairPal's Car Genius team! If your 2016 Ford F-150 is throwing a code related to the catalytic converter sensor, it’s likely referring to the oxygen sensors (O2 sensors) that monitor the efficiency of the catalytic converter. These sensors can fail over time or become contaminated, leading to poor readings that can trigger the check engine light. Before jumping to conclusions, it's a good idea to have the specific code pulled again, as it can give you more insight into whether it’s an upstream (pre-catalytic converter) or downstream (post-catalytic converter) sensor issue. If it’s just a faulty O2 sensor, that’s a relatively easy fix. However, if there are underlying issues with the catalytic converter itself, that could lead to more extensive repairs. Keep in mind that if the check engine light is flashing, it indicates a more urgent problem that should be addressed immediately to avoid damaging the engine or catalytic converter.
