Will an additional circuit have to be added for a switch change to work. 2014 F 150 STX, 3.7 V6

I'm not sure what you mean, all ignition switches and even "on - off" buttons have an accessory position - or - mode. This, on a keyed system, would be having the key in the "on" position before "cranking" the engine. No "modification" or "additional circuit" required.
"On" is not the same as accessory position! According to the owner's manual for the 2014 F-150 the ignition switch, like most, has four positions: "Off" - "Accessory" - "On" - "Start". Off is the one where you can remove the key. Accessory turns on power to the radio and other systems. On powers the ignition and the gauges come to life. Start is spring-loaded and cranks the engine.
