What is your question?
The problem is intermittent. It starts within a few seconds after the ignition is turned off about one tick per second. After 15-30 seconds it increases to about two ticks per second for about 30 seconds then it stops. While ticking I cannot restart the engine. Once the ticking stops the engine restarts fine.
How long has your 2012 Ford F-150 had this problem?
A few days

Hi, this is Bo, an auto expert on RepairPal's Car Genius team! That ticking sound under your dash is likely from a malfunctioning blend door actuator in the HVAC system. These little motors adjust air direction and temperature, and when they fail, they make that annoying tapping sound as their gears slip. The strange part is it shouldn’t affect starting your truck—but it might be triggering a relay or interfering with electrical systems near the ignition. Replacing the actuator should silence the ticking. If the no-start issue persists, look at related relays, the ignition switch, or even the truck’s Body Control Module (BCM), which might not be happy about the faulty actuator.
