shifter will lock in park wont release

What is your question?

has happened twice in 5 days. first time it released after about 1 hr. 2nd time after 10 min. (i dont think this is really important) was not parked on incline. checked that brake lights worked. brake pedal was engaged. I just kept trying to get it to let go and it finally did. any good advise would be appreciated
