I'm helping a friend, and the engine seized, or so I'm seeing. the crank turns in increments when tapping the starter but it's locked up. the engine light came on a few seconds before it seized, whille doing 60, but fluids were good and the oil pressure showed good before, what seems like, the engine seized. Are oil pump failures hiding that well?

Engine's seizing and oil pumps failing is not a common occurence on the 5.4L V8. A year later, there were some fuel injector issues, possibly sticking open, and causing some issues in severe cases, but for this 2004 F-150 I am surprised. Anything is possible I suppose. Does the engine turn with a wrench on the crank? How is the oil level and condition? A good step would be to drop the oil pan to see what you can see, if the engine indeed does not turn with a wrench.
