I'm told it will cost $75 to get a new key made that will start my F150. Is this true or can one be ordered with chip in it? I'm told if you get one made, you can do it yourself and by-pass the dealer.

That's what it will cost from a dealer. You can get another key from internet, but they aren't cheap (20-25$)and then program it yourself.
The key from the dealer has a computer chip in required to run the vehicle. If you get one made anywhere else without the chip it will allow you to start the vehicle but will only go a couple of miles and then shut down. It's a security issue. You then have to have it towed to a dealership and have it reset at a cost to you. The key you had made will open the doors but do not run the engine with this key.
do you know of a web site to get the key?
