Does the Air Condition have to be discharged as part of a heater core replacement? Does the whole dash have to be removed to replace the heater core?
On most cars,, except a lot of toyotas, you do need to discharge the a/c system in order to remove the heater core, because they are both in the same location. (the heater box, or sometimes called the evaporator box). Toyotas are designed in such a way that you can remove the heater core without removing the evaporator, (the evap box can be split without removing it from the car) All other manufacturers do not have this ability.
