my alternator went out on my 1997 f-150 4.6l xlt so i replaced the alternator and truck ran fine for a week until my battery light popped on again this time it was accompanied by a check engine light as well. when i was driving down the road truck lost power and died on me killed a brand new battery. i opened the hood and the alternator power wire to solenoid was melted and the 175 amp fuse it it ran too had melted completely too. i replaced fuse and now truck cranks but doesnt start it has fuel but no spark now... why is this?
How long has your 1997 Ford F-150 had this problem?

Hello, sounds like you need to replace any affected part - often times the alternator wiring connector must be replaced with an alternator replacement due to excessive heat and terminal damage. There is a relationship between radio frequency interference from an alternator and engine ignition performance -- so correct the charging system perfectly first and then proceed with engine performance testing for lack of spark. Perhaps another fuse is blown that you haven't spotted yet. Use this link to find some shops near you that can help with your concern: www.repairpal.com/repair-shops
