your rear light compartment filiment may have rusted thourgh

Check flashers, there are 2 of them, one in the fuse box on dash and one that operates the flashers is on the opposite site of fuse box under dash. The switch for the brake light is connected to the pedal under the dash. The bulbs themselves could have burned out.
