The coil is not supposed to be loose, but it's not uncommon to get shocked from static electricity when you slide across he seat and then touch the metalwork of a vehicle. Try grounding yourself to something like the doorframe metal when you get out of the car on cool, dry days. If the ignition were shorted to the body of the truck, you wouldn't get shocked but the engine wouldn't run. The only voltage sufficient to shock you would be the ignition system and like I say, the engine wouldn't run and the ignition system does not energise unless the engine's turning so you wouldn't get shocked by the ignition system when you're getting out because the engine would be off anyway.
