What is your question?
If I drive the car for approx 15 minutes it suddenly cuts out and I have to stop and put it in Park , switch off the ignition and switch back on - then the car runs fine for another 15 minutes or even up to an hour when it happens again.
What makes this problem better or worse?
It all started after my battery went flat and AAA had to recharge it.
How long has your 2008 Ford Explorer had this problem?
More than a week

Hi - I am Dave, contributing to RepairPal and providing expert advice since 2010. That's disappointing to hear. It is difficult to determine if your vehicle has an electrical issue which stems from the battery needing serviced, or if there is some kind of engine performance issue that is occurring which is unrelated. My gut sensation is that you have an engine performance issue. Perhaps fuel delivery or ignition spark is a problem consistently. If there is not enough fuel, the vehicle will stop. On older vehicles, ignition modules could overheat causing loss of spark. Doubtful on this vehicle though; completely different systems. The good news is that the problem that is occurring while it occurs will be easy to test and find a problem. So I would recommend spending some time with a technician near you when the problem is occurring or let them drive the vehicle until it fails so they may test it. This will help get to the bottom of the issue. Reach out to a shop near you -- https://repairpal.com/auto-repair-near-me Click the link to find some shops near you who can help out!
