2004 Ford Explorer battery replaced after car sat for 6 months but still wont start. I have heard it could have something to do with the security system? Is this common? How do I get it to start? Thanks
What makes this problem better or worse?

Hi, does the engine crank over with the new battery, or still no cranking? The factory antitheft system is built into having keys that are programmed to communicate with a transceiver to bypass an antitheft module in the vehicle. If you have keys that are not properly programmed, the car will not start. However, sometimes there are non-factory alarms and vehicles that can do weird things. I would recommend that these - if present - are all disabled and removed to avoid any kind of variables. Following elimination of any of this, diagnostic testing can be performed to determine the cause of the no start situation.
